    Badupriya Vidanagama, M.D. completed his Residency at John Hopkins University and Hospital. While at John Hopkins, he was a team member with Dr. Marshall Folstein, developing mini mental exams. Following his Residency, he joined Emory University’s Department of Psychiatry, as Assistant Professor. In this capacity, Dr. Vidanagama functioned as Director of Inpatient, Outpatient and Director of Rehab Services, where he provided direct clinical care and supervision of Residents, Medical Students, Psychiatric Nurses, Social Workers and Psychology trainees at Grady Memorial Hospital. At this same time he maintained a part time clinical and consults liaison practice at Emory Clinic and Hospital. Dr. Vidanagama completed four (4) years of Psychoanalytic training at Emory Institute of Psychoanalysis associated with a number of Psychopharm studies with other researchers. He remains involved in teaching seminars and other clinically based activities. Dr. Vidanagama was the recipient of the Distinguished Service Award from Emory in 2012 and retired as Professor Emeritus from Emory in 2012. Bandupriya Vidanagama, M.D. was born in Srilanka, and graduated with honors from Faculty of Medicine University of Ceylon in 1965. Dr. Vidanagama practiced as a Physician in Government Health Services from 1965-1973.

    Dr. Vidanagama is currently in private practice of general adult Psychiatry. He sees all forms of psychological difficulties with medication management and psychotherapies (supportive, psycho dynamic, long term, as well as cognitive behavioral techniques and Eastern meditation guidelines and relaxation methods.)

    Dr. Vidanagama specializes in understanding early trauma and current traumatic experiences and their effects on current functioning.
